4WD paint protection film in Perth

PPF on a 4WD takes the stone chips, gravel rash and scratches from scrub that would otherwise mark the paint. It suits LandCruisers, utes and pick-ups that do highway kilometres or go off the bitumen. 4WD packages are priced for each vehicle and confirmed in a written quote, including GST.

Why a 4WD takes more damage

A 4WD has a tall, flat front and a lot of paint facing the road. On the highway it meets every stone thrown up by the vehicle in front, and on gravel and corrugations its own tyres throw grit back along the sides.

Off the bitumen, there is scrub. Branches along a narrow track leave fine scratches down the doors and guards. On film, light marks like these heal with heat; deeper ones mark the film, not the paint, and that panel’s film can be replaced on its own.

Coverage for a 4WD

Our three gloss packages build out from the front. On a 4WD:

  • Front End: front bumper, bonnet, front guards, mirrors and headlights, with the A-pillars to the top of the windscreen.
  • Front End + Full Sides: adds the doors, sills, rear quarters or tub sides, painted flares, roof pillars and roof edges. This covers the panels grit hits on gravel.
  • Full Car: every painted panel, including the roof, tailgate and rear bumper.

What affects the price

How big the car is and how many curves and vents it has, how much of it you cover, and the film you choose: satin and colour film cost more than clear gloss. Film locks in whatever is underneath, so if the paint needs correcting first, we say so and include it in your quote before any work starts.

Not sure which package?

Tell us the car and how you use it, and we will recommend the coverage. Call, text or send the form, or bring the car to the studio and see the film on real cars first.

Bars, flares, canopies and conversions

Plenty of 4WDs are not standard. Painted bars, flares and canopies have no ready-made pattern, so we hand-cut film for them from the roll and wrap the edges as we would on any panel.

One example from our studio: a LandCruiser 300 GR cab-chassis conversion with a canopy, covered in full in Defcon Frozen satin film, which turned the gloss white paint into a matte white finish.

Accessories fitted by other workshops stay where they are; tell us what is on the vehicle when you enquire, and we will plan the film around it.

Satin film on a 4WD

Satin is a popular choice on 4WDs. Defcon Frozen gives gloss paint a low-sheen, factory-matte look and protects it at the same time. Full car satin film starts from $6,850, including GST.

For a full colour change in protective film, such as the grey LandCruiser 78 Troop Carrier or the satin black RAM 2500 in our work, see colour PPF, which starts from $7,850 for a full car.

After a trip

Red dust and mud hold grit, so rinse them off soon after a trip, before you touch the film. Keep the pressure washer nozzle back from the film edges, especially around the flares and sills, and check the edges while you wash. Our PPF care guide has the rest.

As on every job, leave the vehicle unwashed for the first week after fitting, and bring it back at two weeks for an edge check.

Honestly can’t thank the whole team at MAS Project enough, they have completely changed the look of my troopy with every single little detail being accounted for. From the day dropping the car off to picking it up we stayed in touch with all updates and ideas giving the feeling of having complete trust it was in good hands. The quality of work they do is absolutely unreal, HIGHLY recommend!

I found MAS Project online and also a work mate told me he has done his car there and it was great. I decided to give it a go and went there to get to know more about their product options and outcome. [My first contact person] was nothing but amazing with her customer service, very patient and explain the details of everything, I also had [the owner] who took his time and put some samples in my car to help me with my decision. … So, bottom of story, these guys cared about me, treated me very special, even though they were fully booked. Couldn’t be happier enough and the final product is to die for!

How much is PPF on a 4WD?

We price each 4WD for the vehicle and what is fitted to it, and confirm it in a written quote, including GST. Front End is the starting package, building up to a full vehicle.

Will PPF survive off-roading?

It is made for stone chips, grit and light scratches, and it handles them well. Heavy scrub or a hard knock can still damage the film, but then it is the film that is marked, and that panel can be re-filmed without touching the paint.

Can you put PPF on bull bars, flares or a canopy?

Painted parts, yes. We hand-cut film for parts with no pattern and wrap the edges. Textured plastic is a different surface, and we tell you what can and cannot be covered when we see the vehicle.

Do you do utes and American pick-ups?

Yes. Our recent work includes LandCruiser 300s and 78s, a LandCruiser 300 converted to a cab-chassis, a Silverado 2500 HD, a RAM 2500 and a GWM Cannon Alpha.

How long does a 4WD take?

Plan on 2–3 working days for a front end, 3–4 for front end and full sides, and 5–7 for a full vehicle. Custom parts can add time, which we tell you when we quote.

Should I choose gloss or satin?

Gloss keeps the paint looking as it does now. Satin gives it a low-sheen, matte look. Ask us to fit a small sample of either on your vehicle.
