Products

The films and coatings we choose

We keep a short list of products and fit them often, so we know how each one behaves. For clear PPF that is Defcon Glanz (gloss) and Defcon Frozen (satin). For colour PPF it is Defcon Spectra and Inozetek Dynamic PPF. Coatings are from Gtechniq, with Labocosmetica Armorius on film, and window tint is Defcon CoolVue or ZR Films NOVA.

Every job on our work page lists the product used, so you can see it on a real car.

How we work

How a PPF job runs

Hands fitting clear film over a curved blue guard
Clear film being worked onto a curved panel. Not every job includes the same preparation.
  1. 01 · At drop-off

    Inspect under studio light

Every panel is checked under the light bars before anything is cut, so marks are found now, not after the film is on.

    • Every panel
    • Under the light bars
  2. 02 · Before any film

    Decontaminate and prep

A full wash, then iron and tar removal and a panel wipe, so the film bonds to clean clear coat.

    • Full wash
    • Iron and tar removal
    • Panel wipe
  3. 03 · Only if the paint needs it

    Correct where it is needed

Film locks in whatever is underneath. Where the paint needs it, we polish first and tell you why.

    • We tell you why first
  4. 04 · Most of the time in the studio

    Cut and fit

Badges and trim come off where the film needs to tuck behind them. The film is cut on a computer plotter or by hand, laid wet and worked in panel by panel, with every edge and corner wrapped so the film line stays out of sight.

    • Parts removed where needed
    • Plotter or hand cut
    • Edges and corners wrapped
  5. 05 · Before pick-up

    Final inspection

The car goes back under the lights for a last check. We register the film on Defcon’s e-Warranty and walk you around the car before you drive away.

  6. 06 · Two weeks later

    Two-week check

Leave the car unwashed for the first week while the film settles. At two weeks we ask you to bring it back so we can check every edge for lifting or peeling and fix anything straight away.

    • No wash for the first week
    • Edges checked for lifting
