Gloss or satin PPF?
Both protect the paint from stone chips in the same way. Gloss film keeps the car looking as it does now. Satin film gives gloss paint a soft, low-sheen finish, and protects factory matte or satin paint without making it shine. We fit Defcon Glanz in gloss and Defcon Frozen in satin, and can fit a small sample of either on your car.

- The same protection: both films are about 190 microns with a self-healing top coat.
- Gloss keeps the look you have. Satin changes gloss paint to a low sheen.
- Full car from $5,500 in gloss and $6,850 in satin.
- Satin needs products made for matte finishes: no wax or polish.
The same protection
Defcon Glanz and Defcon Frozen are the same kind of film underneath: about 190 microns of aliphatic TPU with a self-healing top coat. Both carry a ten-year manufacturer warranty, and we register every job on Defcon’s e-Warranty.
So the choice is about the look you want, not how well the paint is protected.

Gloss: the car as it is
Gloss film is clear and glossy, so the paint keeps its colour and depth. Most people looking at the car will not know it is there.
It comes in three packages, from the front end to the full car, so you can protect the panels that take the most stones and leave the rest.

Satin: a new finish
Satin film turns gloss paint into a soft, low-sheen finish that looks like factory matte. Colours look deeper and the car’s lines stand out more.
It is also the right film for paint that is factory matte or satin already. That paint cannot be polished back if it is marked, and satin film protects it without making it shine.
We fit satin as a full car package, so the finish is the same on every panel. Our work includes LandCruiser 300s, a BMW M5, a Mercedes-AMG C 63 S and a BYD Sealion 7 in satin.

Living with satin
Satin is not harder to look after, just different. Its textured top coat is what gives the low sheen, and waxes, polishes and gloss enhancers fill that texture and leave shiny patches.
Use a shampoo made for matte and satin finishes, and lift bird droppings and bugs off soon. If you want a coating on satin film, use one made for it: we use Labocosmetica Armorius Matt. Our PPF care guide has the rest.
See it on your car first
Come to the studio to see both films on real cars. For clear gloss and clear satin, we can fit a small sample on your own car, so you can see how your colour looks in each before you decide.

Honestly can’t thank the whole team at MAS Project enough, they have completely changed the look of my troopy with every single little detail being accounted for. From the day dropping the car off to picking it up we stayed in touch with all updates and ideas giving the feeling of having complete trust it was in good hands. The quality of work they do is absolutely unreal, HIGHLY recommend!

I found MAS Project online and also a work mate told me he has done his car there and it was great. I decided to give it a go and went there to get to know more about their product options and outcome. [My first contact person] was nothing but amazing with her customer service, very patient and explain the details of everything, I also had [the owner] who took his time and put some samples in my car to help me with my decision. … So, bottom of story, these guys cared about me, treated me very special, even though they were fully booked. Couldn’t be happier enough and the final product is to die for!

Does satin PPF protect as well as gloss?
Yes. Defcon Frozen and Defcon Glanz are the same thickness, with a self-healing top coat and a ten-year warranty. Only the finish is different.
Can I have satin film on just the front?
We fit satin as a full car package, so the finish matches on every panel.
Does satin film change my paint?
No. The paint underneath is not changed; the film gives the satin look.
Is satin harder to look after?
Not harder, just different. Use a shampoo made for matte finishes, and skip wax, polish and gloss enhancers.
My car has factory matte paint. Which film should I choose?
Satin. It protects matte or satin paint without making it shine, and matte paint cannot be polished back if it is marked.
Can I see a sample first?
Yes. We can fit a small sample of clear gloss or clear satin film on your car.
