Why EV owners protect the paint
Many electric cars have a smooth front with no grille, so the bumper and the leading edge of the bonnet are one wide target for stones. They are also usually new, which is the best time to fit film: the factory paint goes under the film as it left the factory.
Film also helps if the car is leased or you plan to sell it in a few years. The paint underneath stays as it was, and any panel’s film can be replaced on its own.

What affects the price
How big the car is and how many curves and vents it has, how much of it you cover, and the film you choose: satin and colour film cost more than clear gloss. Film locks in whatever is underneath, so if the paint needs correcting first, we say so and include it in your quote before any work starts.

Clear gloss film keeps the colour exactly as it is. Satin film turns gloss paint into a soft, low-sheen finish, which suits the clean lines of many EVs; our work includes a BYD Sealion 7 and a Tesla Model Y in satin.
If you want a different colour altogether, colour PPF changes it without a respray and protects the paint at the same time, like the Zeekr 7X in our work. A full car colour change starts from $7,850, including GST; see colour PPF.

Cameras, sensors and the charge port
EVs carry cameras and sensors in the bumpers, mirrors and pillars. We check where they sit on your model and cut the film to leave them clear, and around the charge port door.
Badges and trim come off where the film needs to tuck behind them, and every edge and corner is wrapped.
Protecting a glass roof
A large fixed glass roof is one of the most expensive panels on many EVs, and it faces the sky, so hail and falling debris land on it. We protect it with Defcon Crystal Shield, a clear film made for glass that goes on the outside of the roof. Ordinary PPF is not used on glass because it distorts the view through it.
Defcon says Crystal Shield absorbs impacts from hail, stones and road debris, blocks UV and solar heat to keep the cabin cooler, and helps hold the glass together under stress. It suits Teslas, BYDs, Zeekrs and other EVs with a fixed glass roof, carries a three-year limited warranty registered on e-Warranty, and starts from $600, including GST.
We do not fit tint to the inside of a fixed glass roof: the film soaks up heat in the glass and raises the risk of a crack.
Tint and coatings while it is with us
Many owners add nano-ceramic window tint at the same visit, fitted to WA legal limits, and a coating on the film so the car is easier to wash. Our new car protection packages combine these.

Will PPF affect the cameras or sensors?
No. We cut the film to leave cameras and sensors clear, so parking aids and driver assistance work as they did.
Is it worth fitting PPF to a brand new EV?
It is the best time to do it, before the first chips. The factory paint goes under the film as delivered.
Can you change the colour of my Tesla?
Yes, with colour PPF. It changes the colour without a respray and protects the paint, and the factory paint is still there underneath.
Can you protect or tint the glass roof?
We protect it with Defcon Crystal Shield, a clear film for glass fitted on the outside of the roof, from $600 including GST. We do not tint the inside of a fixed glass roof, because the film traps heat in the glass and raises the risk of a crack.
Can I get tint done at the same time?
Yes. Nano-ceramic window tint for a full car starts from $550, including GST, and can be fitted while the car is with us.
How long will my car be in the studio?
A front end takes 2–3 working days, front end and full sides 3–4, and a full car 5–7. Colour PPF is ordered for each car and takes about 1–2 weeks to arrive before we start.
