Tesla Model Y

A Tesla Model Y has a smooth, grille-free nose, which means its bumper and bonnet take every stone head on. This black Model Y was covered in Defcon Frozen clear satin PPF over the whole car, which protects the paint and changes the finish in one step.

Frozen keeps the original black but takes away the gloss, leaving a soft satin black. On a Model Y the effect is striking: the light bar and the curves around the rear window and door shut lines read more clearly without reflections. The film also takes chips and light scratches before they reach the paint.

Teslas carry cameras in the pillars, the bumpers and the mirrors. We located each one and cut the film to leave every lens clear, so the driver assistance works as it did before. The film was wrapped around the edges where each panel allowed, so no lines show.

Satin film is simple to look after: a hand wash with a pH-neutral shampoo, and no wax or polish. The car was registered on Defcon’s e-Warranty, and the factory paint stays protected underneath.
