BMW M5 (G90)

The G90 M5 is a big, heavy performance sedan, and it shows its shape best in a soft finish. This one was covered in Defcon Frozen satin PPF across the whole car.

Satin film is clear, but its surface is textured so it scatters light instead of reflecting it like a mirror. On gloss paint, the result is a satin look. The film also protects every panel it covers from stone chips and light scratches.

Full coverage on a car this size means a lot of film and a lot of edges. Each panel has to be laid without stretch marks or a change in sheen, because on satin film any difference shows. The aim is one even finish from bumper to bumper.

The factory paint underneath is untouched and protected. If the owner ever prefers gloss again, the satin film can be removed.

Satin film also suits the M5’s long, flat bonnet, where gloss reflections would otherwise dominate.
