This 2020 Audi RS 7 changed colour without a drop of paint. Every painted panel was covered in Inozetek Dynamic PPF in Satin Liquid Metallic Star Silver (DPPF805), a satin silver with a fine metallic flake that shows off the long, sloping body.

The owner wanted contrast, so not everything went silver. The roof, the aerial and the rear spoiler were done in gloss black colour PPF, and the mirror caps and the sides of the front bumper in a gloss carbon-fibre-look colour PPF. Against the satin silver, the black and carbon pieces frame the car the way a factory option pack would.

Because the colour is a protective film, the new finish also takes the stone chips that would otherwise reach the paint, and the original colour is still underneath if the owner ever wants it back.

Inside, the infotainment screen and the piano black and silver trim on the centre console were covered in matte clear PPF. Those are the surfaces that scratch first in daily use, and the matte film also cuts glare on the screen.

To finish, the whole car was coated with Labocosmetica Armorius, made for film, so the satin surface is easier to wash. The car was with us for five to seven working days.
